This annual event is an opportunity to share with staff, residents and clients the joys of life and the connections we make. Most gather for morning or afternoon tea and create a theme to get into the spirit.
The celebrations begin in Tasmania with Andrew Kinnersly and Board Members attending the events.
Gatherings were held on Monday 30th September with Mornington Community, Lillian Martin and Home Care gatherings followed by Strathaven and Strathglen Communities on the same day.
The celebrations also provide an opportunity for recognition of years of service with one staff member enjoying a milestone of over 50 years of service with Uniting AgeWell.
Over the coming weeks, 367 staff are being recognised for achieving significant milestone years of service.
What makes these celebrations even more special is that this is the 20th anniversary of Uniting AgeWell as we know it today. Uniting Aged Care rebranded to Uniting AgeWell 20 years ago bringing with it a new era for the organisation.
Just like our dedicated employees, much has happened at Uniting AgeWell as we have evolved and grown to meet the needs of our clients and residents. The standard of service delivery has risen to support the needs and expectations of the modern age care consumer.
What has remained constant is the care and dedication of our staff across the organisation in living our values and putting customers at the centre of everything that we do.
Number of staff celebrating milestones this year:

10 years = 96
15 years = 51
20 years = 25
25 years = eight
30 years = six

50 years of service for Maureen Donaldson
Maureen Donaldson of Kings Meadows Community, tops the list, saying she counts herself fortunate to have worked for the same organisation for 50 years in her “forever job” – the only full-time job she’s ever held.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be in a role that is both rewarding and satisfying and where I make a difference each and every day to the lives of older people,” says the Lifestyle Assistant. “I love my job. Why would I change?”
